Steven Rogstad, Lincoln expert extraordinaire returns with a series of four wonderful and somewhat spooky Lincoln topics. Suitable for the month of October and Halloween. Abraham and Mary Lincoln were both superstitious individuals, who suffered through numerous personal trials and the deaths of many friends and family members. As parents they lost two sons, and Mary witnessed the death of a third son after the witnessing her husband's assassination. Both had their own methods of dealing with grief; Abraham carved out a psychological method of survival, while Mary's inability to cope led her down a path to mental instability. This lecture focuses on the trials of a tragic marriage. Made possible by funding from The John and Hilda Holden Memorial Fund The Kohler Foundation Wisconsin Humanities Council
