Part four of the Lincoln Series. Lincoln's body did not rest easy after the President's assassination in 1865. After a 1,700-mile funeral journey, 12 public funerals, and final funeral festivities in Springfield, Illinois, his corpse was moved 17 times and relocated in 4 different caskets before a final burial in 1901. In 1876, an attempt was made to steal Lincoln's body and hold it for random. This lecture tells the story of the Lincoln corpse during the 36 years after Lincoln's death. Made possible by funding from The John and Hilda Holden Memorial Fund, The Kohler Foundation, Wisconsin Humanities Council.
