Job Description

PURPOSE:  Responsible for installation of conduit, wire and panels used to monitor and control HVAC systems, mechanical processes, and machinery.  Ensures the designs are implemented to meet quality and safety standards.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Installation of conduit and wiring for new control systems.
  2. Fabrication and installation of control panels
  3. Startup and checkout of control sysems to ensure functionality
  4. Maintain and modify existing control systems.
  5. Troubleshoot electrical control issues.
  6. Work with design engineers, service technicians, project managers, and other internal staff to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  7. Liaison with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities.
  8. Control the cost of materials and labor of each project.
  9. Understand and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards.
  10. Identify and obtain required materials and equipment.
  11. Assist with starrtup and testing of controls and drives.
  12. Other duties as requested, directed or assigned by supervisor
Qualification/Skills:
  1. Proficiency installing and maintaining HVAC and industrial control systems.
  2. Ability to read, interpret and create electrical drawings
  3. Experience installing and programming variable frequency drives
  4. Experience with line-voltage electrical systems is a plus.
  5. Excellent analytical, problem solving. and trouble shooting skills.
  6. Skill in estimating time and material requirements.
  7. Excellent communication skills, including listening, reasoning, verbal and written.
Education and Experience:
  1. Minimum 3 to 5 year’s experience installing low voltage control systems.
  2. Licensing as a journeyman electrician is preferred, but not required.
  3. Experience with startup and troubleshooting control systems
Physical/Environmental/Work Requirements:
  1. Must be able to:  Travel to customer locations.  Stand or walk for long periods of time during the regular work day; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, work at high heights, scaffolds and other climbing devices; carry tools and equipment; work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched, and crawling positions; be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks.
  2. Must be able to:  Perform assigned tasks under all types of environmental and weather conditions including severe cold, extreme heat, wet or dry weather and high winds.  Environmental conditions may include areas where toxic or caustics chemicals or fumes are in use or being stored.
