DESCRIPTION:PLYMOUTH\, WI- "Alive in the Arts\," Plymouth Arts Center's 28th annual juried exhibition will open in Gallery 110 North\, Friday\, May 5th\, 2023. James Neilson was the juror for this competition. He reviewed artwork from artists living and working throughout the state of Wisconsin and has chosen 69 pieces for this new show. The public is invited to attend the opening reception Friday\, May 5th from 5-7:30 pm. Live musical entertainment will be presented courtesy of Mary Fellenz\, piano from 5 to 6 pm\, and the Gypsy Chicks Duo\, Kate Pearce\, bass\, and Beth Munns\, piano from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Complimentary appetizers & desserts will be served with a cash bar. "Alive in the Arts" will be on display through August 4\, 2023. The presenting sponsors are Robert & Phyllis Hoopman\, Wisconsin Bank and Trust\, and 20/20 Visions/ Dr. Sharon Roberts and Dr. Brad Wicklund.\n\n \n\nAwards for this show are determined at the Juror/Judge's discretion from the actual work. The winning artists will be recognized during the opening reception Awards Ceremony at 6:00pm. Cash awards totaling $1000\, and Merit Awards will be presented. \n\n \n\nAbout the JUROR James Neilson James is a three-dimensional mixed-media artist currently living and working in De Pere\, WI. He earned his BFA in Sculpture from Johnson State College/The Vermont Studio Center\, Johnson\, VT. Graduate school was followed by 30 years teaching studio art and art history at St. Norbert College\, De Pere\, WI (with two residencies at Luther College\, Decorah\, IA\, including teaching at the Peninsula Art School in Fish Creek\, WI and Catholic Theological Union\, Chicago\, IL). James' work has been locally exhibited at the Neville Public Museum\, Green Bay\, WI and the Rahr West Art Museum\, Manitowoc\, WI. James frequently lectures at the Aging and Disability Resource Center\, Green Bay\, WI. \n\n \n\nGallery 110 North is located in the Plymouth Arts Center\, 520 E. Mill Street in historic downtown Plymouth. Regular PAC hours are Tuesday-Friday\, 10am to 4pm\; Saturday & Sunday\, Noon to 3 pm. Closed on Mondays and holidays.
