SUMMARY:Sheboygan Area Youth Symphony Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Sheboygan Area Youth Symphony to Hold Auditions for 2019-2020 Season April 25\, 26 and 27\, 2019 | Band Room South High | 3128 South 12th Street | Sheboygan Spring auditions for the Sheboygan Area Youth Symphony Concert Orchestra and Sinfonia will take place April 25 and 26 from 4:30 - 9:30 pm and April 27 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at South High at 3128 South 12th Street in Sheboygan. A general warm up room will be available at the auditions. Students and families should enter South High school through the commons area of the school All students enrolled at area elementary\, middle school\, or high school\, and all home-schooled students are eligible to audition for SAYS. Participation in school instrumental ensembles is required unless the appropriate ensemble is not in the curriculum. Audition Requirements:  Scale (woodwind and brass only): A scale showing the student's fullest range. Chromatic if possible.  Solo: All students should prepare a solo that fully demonstrates their ability on their instrument (Percussion see below). WSMA Class A or B (or equivalent difficulty) for consideration for Concert Orchestra\; Class B or C (or equivalent difficulty) for Sinfonia. If multi-movement\, excerpts from each movement permitted. String students: It is important that any ability to play beyond first position is shown\, preferably in their solo (rather than in a scale). In order to be considered for Concert Orchestra\, violinists and violists should demonstrate sufficient ability to play in third position minimally\, and cellists should demonstrate sufficient ability to play in fourth position minimally. Percussion students: A short etude/piece on snare and mallet percussion. Timpani piece encouraged but optional.  Sight-reading: All students will sight-read a brief excerpt.
