At the UW\, of course! Under the direction of Paul Sucherman\, the jazz program is alive and well in Sheboygan. Paul\, a professional musician himself\, brings in pros from Chicago to perform and/or give Master Classes just for our students. This semester brings a special treat for the entire community. On MONDAY\, NOV 20 beginning at 7pm\, "Jeff Schieble's Generations Big Band" will headline our Triple Jazz Festival. Those who have heard them already know that they could be playing in the biggest festivals but remain here to perform for our community. Wade Heinen's terrific Jazz Ensemble I from South High School open the festivities. The UW's own Jazz Ensemble\, led by the brilliant jazz keyboardist Paul Sucherman\, will continue the groove. This will make a great date night or family night out! From New Orleans style Jazz to Be-Bop and Funk\, the South High School Jazz Ensemble I will entertain with songs including "Pocono Git-Down" by Rick Hirsch\, John Coltrane's "Impressions" arr. Mark Taylor\, and "The Chicken" by Alfred James Ellis. Sing along as the UW Jazz Ensemble plays familiar tunes such as "A Tisket\, A Tasket" featuring vocalist/bassoonist Sydney Schaller\, Count Basie's "Lonely Street" featuring Altoist Jessica Crist\, a "Charlie Brown Christmas Medley\," and Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed" featuring special guest Nathan Knepprath on tenor sax. Jeff Schieble's GENERATIONS BIG BAND will be playing Thad Jones' "Quietude" and "Tiptoe\," Cedar Walton's "Bolivia\," and a Trombone battle\, "Two Bone Barbeque." Tickets: $10/adults and free to all area students with ID. The box office opens at 6pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.
