Winter Hula

Escape the winter blues and learn basic hula steps that are unique to this dance form specific to the Pacific. In this workshop, we will learn the traditional dance of the Hawaiian Islands. Hulas are performed to songs or chants known as “meles”. The movements illustrate the lyrics. Open to all skill levels.

Instructor: Molly King

King received her BA in dance as well as her teaching certification at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She also earned a master’s degree in special education at Cardinal Stritch University. King has been teaching dance at the Étude Group schools for the Sheboygan Area School District for 15 years. This is her 14th year with the Arts Center. Outside of teaching, King co-directs a dance collective in the Sheboygan community, Sixth Street Dance, and performs with Pommersche Tanzdeel Freistadt, a German folk-dance group in Milwaukee. She enjoys being a mom to her two daughters, Nora and Rosalie.
