A DAY IN THE LIFE OF OUR CONTROLLER

As a Controller, you oversee the day-to-day operations of our accounting and finance departments. To limit risk, you keep a finger on the pulse of economic conditions and market trends, including interest rates, competitors, housing markets, and employment rates. You continually increase your knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), technology, trends, and industry best practices via webinars, conferences, and formal training. You will have the opportunity to research, develop, and implement a performance analytics function within the credit union. Using your advanced knowledge, you make recommendations and lead projects to improve processes and implement efficiencies. With a commitment to industry regulations and standards, you prepare for regulatory exams as well as internal and external audits. All of your work is done with the purpose of supporting our goals that lead to growth.

You fill a vital role in our credit union as a leader and mentor. As such, you coach your team members with the goal of maximizing their performance and building relationships. Aside from managing your team, you are also intimately involved in managing relationships with third-party vendors related to accounting and finance. You complete ongoing performance evaluations and due diligence on existing vendors, as well as research alternatives and potential new vendors. You take pride in the work you do to help our credit union succeed!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OUR CONTROLLER

  • Certified public accountant (CPA) certification or advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in accounting, ideally within the financial services industry
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time controller position typically works Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
