A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A STAFF ACCOUNTANT

As a Staff Accountant for our credit union, you prepare, examine, and ensure the accuracy of our financial statements and regulatory reporting. Your primary focus is on limiting risk for the credit union and its members. You ensure our compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and corporate policies as well as federal and governing regulations.

By recording daily entries and maintaining the chart of accounts, you keep our general ledger software updated. You prepare for both internal and external audits. You are a "detail person" and pride yourself on ensuring that our financial information and reports are accurate and up to date, so we can continue to fulfill our member's banking needs while upholding their trust!

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A STAFF ACCOUNTANT

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance preferred
  • One year of experience in a related field required
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
  • Ability to comply with government and other regulations affecting the financial and banking services industry, such as the Bank Secrecy Act and The USA Patriot Act

Are you self-motivated and able to work independently? Do you have good communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting procedures to non-accounting staff? Can you effectively handle multiple complex deadlines? Are you discreet with confidential information? If so, you might just be perfect for this Staff Accountant position!

 

WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time accounting position typically works Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
