Lakeshore Technical College - Cleveland

Position Overview:

Provide instruction to students in Agribusiness Science & Technology program at Lakeshore Technical College as well as Moraine Park Technical College as part of the shared program agreement.  Provide support to students and faculty on outdoor labs, field trips, academic related conferences along with the promotion of the Agribusiness Science and Technology program within the college, local high school systems and agribusiness community.  Instructional areas may include dairy herd management, agribusiness management, sciences, marketing, finance, and precision technologies.  Instruct Agribusiness courses in a variety of instructional methods, including IFlex, online and video conferencing.  

Job Responsibilities:

•    Provide instruction in dairy and agribusiness-related programs with an emphasis on supplying graduates to meet the needs of local agriculture, dairy farm operations, and the agribusiness community.  
•    Coordinate internships and industry experiences relying on strong personal connections, collaborations, and working relationships with the agriculture community including farms, coops, and businesses. 
•    Provide experiential teaching and implement applied learning during labs, outdoor labs, field trips and academic related conferences. 
•    Promote the agriculture, dairy, and agribusiness programming within the college, at high schools, events, conferences, and the dairy farm and agribusiness community. 
•    Assist with equipment and material procurement process.
•    Submit work orders to facilities for lab and equipment repairs.
•    Ensure cleanliness and organization is maintained in the agriculture lab, and the classrooms.  
•    Work effectively with outside vendors.
•    Develop relationships with companies related to agriculture in LTC’s district and beyond.
•    Develop and maintain relationships with high school instructors to establish dual credit opportunities as well as recruitment activities.  
•    Ensure the safety of students in potentially hazardous work environments through safe working practices and proper use of equipment.
•    Participate in college outreach activities, both on and off campus.
•    Maintain a working relationship with Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center and finding new ways to partner and collaborate.
•    Work effectively in a team-based environment


•    Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field preparing the individual for the occupational area being taught required
•    Minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of recent related occupational experience in agriculture.
•    Teaching experience preferred.
•    Fluent in agriculture software applications: PCDART, DairyCOMP 305, FINPACK, and QuickBooks.
•    Ability to work non-standard hours including mornings, evening, and weekend hours.
•    Experience with computer assisted instruction and software.
•    Working knowledge of PC software in a windows environment.
•    Experience desired in delivering instruction by alternative methods such as instructional television or online.
•    Possess excellent classroom delivery skills, which encourage success and participation on the part of students.
•    Must be innovative and able to collaborate with other staff for developing curriculum for classroom instruction.
•    Must be well motivated and have a strong interest in contributing to the success of the College.
•    Positive human relations and effective written and oral communication skills essential.
•    Advanced knowledge of current Microsoft Office software and Adobe Creative Suite software.
•    Exemplify college values in all staff and student interactions, as well as services delivered.
•    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and relate successfully with staff, students, and people of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Employment conditional on completion of a Background Information Disclosure (BID) and a Motor Vehicle Record Check with the results acceptable to the College.
  • Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license is required.
  • Must meet and maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) requirements.
