Would you like to be a part of a supportive and innovative team, creating and implementing child-centered, arts-infused lesson plans for children enrolled in the three-year-old Preschool classroom at JMKAC?
The John Michael Kohler Arts Center will be adding a teaching position in the three-year-old Preschool classroom to work mornings, 20 hours/week, with the Arts Center’s littlest learners, providing a nurturing environment rooted in the arts and rich in social-emotional curriculum.
Teach and promote self-expression for preschoolers through the arts, including studio art, music, creative movement, and theater.
Prepare Preschool room and materials daily.
Learn about gallery exhibitions and incorporate artists’ work and processes into the curriculum and classroom.
Communicate with parents and caregivers on a daily basis, and provide information about field trips and preschool family events in a timely manner.
Showcase the students’ work in and outside of the classroom on a regular basis, as well as for the annual Preschool art exhibition and the year-end student performances on stage.
Work collaboratively with education team members to maximize ideas and resources for Preschool classrooms.
Organize parent volunteers in the classroom.
Maintain student files, and conduct midterm and year-end assessments and conferences.
Organize and maintain cleanliness in the classroom
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts in Early Education preferred
State preschool certification preferred
Previous experience or training in early childhood education
Experience with art, music, dance or theatre is desired
Strong knowledge of educational techniques and methods for teaching young children
Candidates must be able to work Monday-Friday from 8:30am- 12:30pm and must be available to start in August 2022.
This is a school-year position, with two months off (unpaid) during the summer.
