Salary Expectation:
$71,744 to $89,680 ** If the successful candidate hired does not meet the educational requirements, the position may be offered at a different salary, per the full-time faculty salary schedule.

LOCATION:  Lakeshore Technical College- Cleveland Campus

POSITION SUMMARY: Serve as the primary faculty member in LTC’s renewable energy programs. This individual demonstrates expertise with Wind and Solar Energy specific tools, equipment, and processes. Faculty work with students in the classroom, interior wind and solar lab, and on LTC’s outdoor wind turbines and solar arrays. 
Educate students with core knowledge and current developments in the discipline. Provide regular curriculum and course improvement with continually updated teaching methods. Participate in subject or program leadership teams and college-wide committees.  Work effectively in a team-based environment. Seek opportunities for continuous professional development. 
Provide high quality customer service throughout all interactions. This includes but is not limited to: work effectively and positively with people from all backgrounds; help the customer find solutions; anticipate needs, and follow-up with the customer. Provide friendly, respectful, personalized experiences throughout every interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned) :
(70%) Instruction
  •  Ensure the safety of students in potentially hazardous training environments through safe electrical work practices (up to 575 VAC), work at height procedures, lock-out/ tagout procedures, and personal fall protective equipment.
  •  Maintain onsite wind and solar electrical generation labs.
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Facilitate optimal learning through integration of technology and utilization of appropriate delivery methods.
  •  Evaluate student learning based on course competencies employing formative and summative strategies.
  • Create an inclusive, effective learning environment that addresses barriers and provides reasonable accommodations.
(20%) Program Maintenance

(10%) Outreach
  • Participate in college outreach activities.
  • Advocate for LTC’s renewable energy programs at regional, state, and national events.
Instruction/Manage the Learning Environment
•    Curriculum:  Integrate learning theories and models into curriculum design. Update curriculum appropriately in curriculum design repository system and the college learning management system according to the college schedule and guidelines.
•    Delivery:  Facilitate learning, utilizing a variety of delivery modes and learning theories.  Encourage engagement of students while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and functioning environment.
•    Assessment:  Evaluate student learning based on course competencies and program outcomes, employing formative and summative assessments.  Provide constructive and timely feedback Retain records through the college information system according to program requirements.
•    Support Dual Credit and Credit for Prior Learning activities.
•    There may be operational needs requiring substitutions of alternative duties and/or the creation of flexible delivery (e.g., CBE, iFlex) in courses.
Enhance Student Success 
•    Modify teaching and learning based upon feedback and assessment results to improve student success.
•    Create an inclusive and equitable learning environment designed to address student needs and partner with accommodation or other support services to provide reasonable accommodations, when appropriate.
•    Advise students in ways that foster the development of the whole student, and encourages persistence and timely completion of a course, certificate, diploma, or degree. 
•    Assess the effectiveness of a course and/or program and take necessary steps to enhance outcomes.
Pursue Professional Development
•    Participate in initial and ongoing required professional development.  This includes, but is not limited to, college-wide meetings, on-site professional development days, Wisconsin Technical College System Faculty Quality Assurance System FQAS courses, etc.  
•    Develop and update annual goals as documented in the employee performance review.  
•    Maintain required industry certifications and/or licensures.  
Participate in Planning or College Advancement
•    Participate in division, department, and program meetings to improve program health.  
•    Provide input into hiring, mentoring, and succession planning.  
•    Participate in college advancement initiatives, including college-wide teams, advisory committees, and/or statewide teams.  
•    Contribute to the design, implementation, and reporting of grants.  
•    Support the College accreditation process.   
•    Participate in program planning, development, and modification.
Outreach
•    Participate in outreach, recruitment, and community events as determined by college leadership.
•    Collaborate with Workforce Solutions on scoping business and industry needs.
Other
•    Activities required to maintain program accreditation unless part of coordinator duties.
•    Grant writing and reporting activities may be required.
•    Activities required to maintain competency, partnerships, and mutual services within external/offsite location.
•    Oversee and coordinate operations at external sites and satellite locations that maintain campus standards.
•    Other duties as assigned.
Manage Instruction Related Technology
•    Utilize PeopleSoft appropriately.
•    Use electronic timesheet.
•    Use Blackboard and associated tools.
•    Utilize classroom technologies necessary for instruction (e.g., Interactive Whiteboard, SmartBoard, Projectors, Document Camera, and Lecture Capture equipment).
•    Manage laptop carts.
•    Use Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS) for curriculum development and access to course/syllabi information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
  • Ability to work with electrical equipment safely including proper use of digital multimeters and appropriate PPE.
  • Familiarity with utilizing various software for remote accessing of generation assets and equipment.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, the components within and their functions.
  • Ability to use hydraulic torquing equipment.
  • Be familiar with basic hardware; use a laptop and printer; use scanning techniques equipment; use voicemail, email and calendaring programs; navigate through Windows; access college network systems; understand database concepts; create a basic spreadsheet; use database queries; create simple charts and graphs; appropriate navigation through the internet; develop materials using presentation software; create reports in MS Word; manage and create files; use video conferencing;  access network securely using appropriate multi-factor authentication.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required ~OR~ an Associate’s degree in a renewable energies discipline. If no Bachelor’s degree, individual hired will be required to enroll in an accredited bachelor degree program in a related discipline and to complete the degree within 5 years of employment. A Master’s degree in a related discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ full-time (4,000 hours) experience working as a technician in renewable energies is required.
All instructors are required to meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job specific licensing standards. 
Per subject area taught, instructors are required to possess the appropriate credential.
In evaluating candidates for this position, the College may consider a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform duties of position.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
  • OSHA general industry certifications, CPR/ First Aid certifications, NABCEP, and work at height/ SPRAT certifications are desirable.
  • MVR CHECK is required  – The employee in this position is a potential operator of a Lakeshore Technical College owned vehicle or may be responsible for driving any other motor vehicles on behalf of the College.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics in both the American Standard and European Convention.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC electrical circuits and the laws that govern them.
  • Work at height experience is a must.
  • Comfortable utilizing various tools from basic hand tools to power tools.
  • Can effectively utilize a harness and applicable tower rescue equipment.
  • Organizational, planning, and time management skills; verbal and written, communication skills; analytical skills and abilities; computer technology skills and abilities; problem solving and decision-making skills; ability to plan and set goals and follow through to completion; ability to work without direct supervision; and maintain confidentiality.

  • Fluent, bilingual individual is beneficial.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to climb over 100 feet multiple times per day.
  • Maintain climbing weight between 130 and 310 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform rescues at heights.
  • Must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment may require multi-tasking. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
