 This combined lecture and clinical course hosted through Lakeshore Technical College teaches you the theory and skills needed to work with residents in a skilled nursing facility. Included are classroom instruction, hands on training (10 days on the floor with CNA), final competency check off and assessment of skills. Upon successful completion of the course and certification, Rocky Knoll will assess to determine continuation with part-time or full-time employment options.
 
All interested parties must apply, attend all 10 classes, and sign an agreement to maintain employment with Rocky Knoll for a minimum of 1 year (if this commitment is not fulfilled, the student will be responsible for the cost of the CNA class – up to $500).
 
Classes begin July 12th, 2022
July 12, 2022 – July 14th, 2022    8:00am – 4:00pm
July 18, 2022 – July 21, 2022               6:00am – 2:30pm
July 25, 2022 – July 28, 2022              2:30pm – 11:00pm
 
 What to expect:
You will play a crucial part in providing comprehensive nursing care for the comfort, safety and personal needs of residents under the direction of licensed staff. This care is ensured by performing the following:
  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living and performing procedures for hygiene and comfort 
  • Following individualized resident care plan team while sharing various tasks with other licensed and non-licensed team members 
  • Maintaining thorough electronic resident record in accordance with safety guidelines and providing social and emotional support to residents and resident families
 The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
  • Ability to handle crisis intervention situations as directed by care plan, facility protocol, resident rights etc .
  • Basic level of computer proficiency, medical terminology and understanding of concept of comprehensive nursing care for a diversified population
