Lakeshore Technical College – Cleveland, Wisconsin

Position Overview:

Responsible for the College’s audio-visual systems throughout the main campus and remote sites, providing help desk support, and set-up and support for special events. Coordinate activities with system users. Complete technology projects as assigned. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

(60%) AV Support Services
•    Coordinate, design, install, setup, and operate AV presentation systems, video conferencing technology, and other audio-visual equipment in classrooms, conference rooms, and other spaces at main campus and remote sites.
•    Communicate and coordinate activities with college departments regarding installations, support work, and special events including, but not limited to, graduations, awards banquets, team development days, and external meetings/presentations.
•    Configure audio-video software and hardware.
•    Provide end user guidance and training for audio-visual components and systems.
•    Work with vendors on special projects and to troubleshoot audio-video system issues.
•    Promptly escalate unresolved issues to the supervisor.
•    Research emerging technologies and trends, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations to drive innovation.
•    Maintain a refresh schedule of audio-visual equipment.
•    Provide Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 help desk support for students, faculty, and staff.
•    Maintain a schedule of maintenance tasks, conduct maintenance, and document all work performed.
•    Review purchasing invoices to ensure equipment was received.
•    Recommend and draft new and updated procedures for critical processes.

(30%) Technology Projects
•    Perform as Project Coordinator or project team member to complete LTC technology projects.

(10%) Administration
•    Recommend and review updates to LTC technology policies.
•    Participate in events, committees, and meetings as required.
•    Complete required job-related training.

(5%) Manager Essential Responsibilities
Carryout managerial responsibilities in accordance with set policies and applicable laws including:
     o    Assist in developing plan(s) and budget for department.
     o    Address issues in an effective and timely manner.
     o    Be an active advocate for LTC in the community.
     o    Be active in the college by serving on committees.
     o    Teach classes, as requested, based on course-identified qualifications.

Provide general direction to student workers, Youth Apprentice students, and other students as assigned by the College. This includes ensuring each student is provided opportunities to expand their technical and customer support skill set.

Education, Experience and/or Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent with two to four years' recent related occupational experience or, at least four years of professional AV installation, integration, or programming experience. AV installation and support experience in a higher education environment preferred. Avixa or other AV professional certification(s) preferred.

Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license. 

Note: If educational/certification requirements are not met, candidates may be considered, however the expectation would be that they be met within 5 years of employment.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Read schematics, operate video production consoles, Familiarity with Polycom, BlueJeans, and other industry-leading web and video-conferencing systems. Configure audio-visual software and hardware. Perform replacement of mechanical and electronic parts. Use hand tools, saws, drills, and solder irons. Exercise good judgment, initiative, resourcefulness and follow-through. Ability to identify needed action without direction, work independently, and keep supervisor informed. Exemplify college values in all staff and student interactions, as well as services delivered. Ability to anticipate and take proactive measures to prevent issues or problems. Ability to maintain effective working relationships and relate successfully with staff, students, and citizens of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds. Fluent, bilingual individual is beneficial.

Ability to professionally communicate with end users, in-person, via e-mail, and on the phone. Ability to clearly document work performed in the College’s help desk system. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Competent in basic math. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Must be able to conceptually reduce complex systems to individual basic components during the troubleshooting discovery process. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
