Job Description
The John Michael Kohler seeks a full-time Information Technology Support Specialist to support and maintain in-house technology equipment and IT assets. This includes installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring its optimal performance. The individual will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training and assistance where required.
A successful IT Support Assistant must have thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.
Additionally, this individual will assist with maintaining databases, systems, and various software applications as assigned by the Systems Software Manager.
  • Responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer systems, necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.), and other technologies such as communication systems
  • Responsible for tracking inventory, evaluating new technologies, negotiating contracts with vendors, and developing contingency plans in case of network failure
  • Assists in the organization of shared drives
  • Administers user accounts
  • Transfers computer files between platforms
  • Develops and maintains local networks in ways that optimize performance
  • Ensures security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
  • Provides orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Organizes and schedules upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Performs troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.)
  • Maintains records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
  • Administers the existing LAN including network security, file structure, and application of service patch releases and updates
  • Assists in researching, recommending, and purchasing any additional PC, network, or peripheral related items needed on an ongoing basis
  • Administers all related backup and security update processes
  • Develops and maintains an inventory of all PCs, laptops, monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment
  • Assists in other projects that may arise.

  • Demonstrates ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Availability for network servicing outside of regular working hours if an urgent matter arises
  • Associate degree in computer science or two or more years of related experience with computers.
  • Experience with network administrative functions for Windows local area networks
  • Experience in firewall administration and security
  • In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories
  • Basic coding knowledge a plus, but not a requirement

A nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex in downtown Sheboygan, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center is devoted to innovative explorations in contemporary art. Central to its mission is promoting an understanding and appreciation of the work of self-taught and contemporary artists through original exhibitions, commissioned works of art, performing arts programming, community arts initiatives, and publications. The Arts Center’s collections focus primarily on works by environment builders, self-taught and folk artists, and works created in the Arts/Industry residency program.
The 100,000-square-foot Arts Center comprises ten galleries, a flexible performance space, studio-classrooms, meeting spaces, SHOP, and CAFE. The Arts Center also has an adjunct site: ARTspace, an exhibition space and shop in The Shops at Woodlake in Kohler Village. In 2021, the Arts Center will open the Art Preserve, a new building dedicated to the display and study of JMKAC’s collection of artist-built environments.
