The Day Camp Counselor serves as a leader, role model, educator, and counselor for approximately 12-18 campers (ages 5-16) and participates in the planning and implementation of camp programs.
Skills & Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or have graduated from High School. The position requires current First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguard Certification. Must possess youth leadership experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a cooperative attitude and the ability to work with and understand the needs of children. An appreciation of outdoor living, nature and camp setting are essential.
The position may require the physical ability to: lead walks a mile or more, lift up to 50 lbs., be able to push, pull, hold, handle or drag equipment up to 20 lbs., bend, squat, and kneel frequently. Must also have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities that include, but are not limited to: row boating, canoeing, belaying, building campfires, swimming, team building exercises more.
Pay is salaried: $350 per week
This is a full time seasonal position, working primarily in the summer. YMCA Camp Y-Koda is a Licensed Wisconsin Day Camp, therefore camp does not provide room & board (only to staff who lead adventure /resident camps).
