Workforce Development
Youth Apprenticeship introduces high school juniors and seniors to local businesses with a chance to explore a career area of interest through a 1- or 2-year program. Businesses are able to gain early access to talent by investing in eager students ready to learn one of the75 pathways in the 13 industries we support. Students are able to balance work and school as they earn high school credit and a grade for their YA experience. Additionally, they gain valuable industry experience under the guidance of local business mentors ultimately earning a pathway certificate to apply to future job opportunities. Employers provide continuous feedback on the pathway competencies and employability skills and are encouraged to engage in conversations with the students regarding potential for continued employment and post-secondary education recommendations tied to the career area they were exposed to. Any employer can become a Youth Apprenticeship employer and begin hiring high school students today.
