Education
Youth Apprenticeship offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to connect with local businesses, allowing them to explore a career field of interest through a 1- or 2-year program run thru the Department of Workforce Development. This initiative enables businesses to tap into emerging talent by mentoring enthusiastic students eager to learn about various pathways in the 16 industries we support. Students can effectively manage their work and school commitments while earning high school credit and a grade for their Youth Apprenticeship experience. They also gain invaluable industry exposure under the mentorship of local business professionals, ultimately receiving a pathway certificate that enhances their future job prospects. Employers play a crucial role by providing ongoing feedback on the students' competencies and employability skills, and they are encouraged to discuss potential job opportunities and recommendations for further education related to the career fields the students are exploring. Any employer interested in becoming a Youth Apprenticeship partner can start hiring high school students today.
