The University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan invites the Sheboygan community to join the campus as it celebrates the grand opening of the campus' newest academic building, the Plastics Engineering Company Center for Engineering Studies, on Thursday, October 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The celebration will start at 4:30 p.m. October 1 in the lower level of the Frank G. and Frieda K. Brotz Science Building, where a Dedication Ceremony with various speakers will be held, followed by a ribbon cutting. All guests will then be welcomed into the new Engineering Building until 6:30 p.m. to enjoy student-led classroom and lab tours, along with engineering equipment demonstrations. Engineering students from UW-Sheboygan and UW-Washington County will be on hand to demonstrate and showcase a human-powered vehicle chassis and an eight-legged, wind-powered, walking machine project. A reception with food and refreshments will be available in the Brotz Science building lower level lounge throughout the event. The new 7,200-square-foot building provides a state-of-the-art lab environment for students studying mechanical and electrical engineering in the University of Wisconsin-Platteville's onsite Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical) degree program. Specifically, the $1.4+ million building offers a Mechanical Engineering Lab, Electrical Engineering Lab, Projects Lab, High Tech classroom, Three offices, and Hallway group study areas. Other state-of-the-art equipment available to students in the new building includes a wind tunnel, pump test trainer, flow meter loop, A/C refrigeration loop and an electrical dynometer. The engineering building is a reality due to the generosity of the Sheboygan County Board of Supervisors and donors Plastics Engineering Company (PLENCO), the Frank G. and Frieda K. Brotz Family Foundation and Curt G. Joa, Inc.
