2025 Summer Camp Activities Coordinator

The Summer Camp Activities Coordinator serves as a leader, role model, planner, educator and participates in the planning and implementation of the Summer Camp program. The Coordinator will primarily focus on planning & preparing age-appropriate activities, such as sports & games, daily arts & crafts, and more. The Coordinator will develop the weekly activity schedule and crafts for ages 5-16. In addition, the Coordinator assist the Summer Camp Director with the daily operations & procedures, serve as a back-up Summer Camp Counselor and filling in as Assistant Summer Camp Director in the event of his/her absence.

Salary: $525.00 per week (about $2,100.00 per month), includes FREE YMCA Membership

Days & Times: Monday-Fridays, 8:00am-4:30pm, June 9- August 29, 2025. Weekly Thursday Parent Program & Overnight which begins in the afternoon and into Friday's schedule. Occasional weekly duties beginning at 7:00am and ending at 5:30pm.

Job Training: Days and times will be discussed with the Summer Camp Director.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and prepare developmentally age appropriate daily activities, arts & crafts projects, Family Program skits and songs, which adhere to the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.
  • Reviews and collaborates with the Summer Camp Director on weekly activity plans for the overall schedule.
  • Create lesson plans and curriculum for each arts & crafts project in a wide range of areas, have plans & materials ready prior to the week of implementation, and communicate effectively with counselors, staff and volunteers on how to teach them.
  • Assist in opening or closing camp on a daily basis, including but not limited to: sign in/out procedures, payments and collection of camp dues, conflict resolution/damage control with campers/parents/guardians/others, inform parents of incidents, injuries and illnesses.
  • Maintain a balanced budget for Activities by monitoring supply inventory, forecasting future needs, etc.
  • Create, Plan and implement new activities that are developmentally appropriate and with objectives for all scheduled groups.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 21 years of age, (must be age 21 before June 9, 2025)
  • Must have a high school diploma, HS Transcrips or GED.
  • Coursework and/or previous experience in Childhood Education, childcare, camp setting or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience creating, teaching and implementing in activities and creating schedules, is preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguarding certification.
  • Must possess youth leadership experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a cooperative attitude and the ability to work with and understand the needs of children.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and proficiency of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other programs.
  • Must have a high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative, with the ability to work accurately at a fast pace.
  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but not limited to: row boating, lawn games, building campfires, swimming, team building exercises, physical games and activities.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions such as rain and 70-90 degree weather.
