LIVASU to Host Internationally Renowned Dementia Care Leader Eloy van Hal

Community invited to learn about the nation’s first dementia village model.

SHEBOYGAN, WI — May 26, 2026 — Dementia Innovations - LIVASU, the

nation’s first dementia village, where those with dementia and their families

can live as usual within a supportive, purposefully designed neighborhood, will host a special open house event featuring internationally recognized dementia care leader Eloy van Hal on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Town of Wilson Hall, 5933 S. Business Drive in Sheboygan.

Van Hal is co-founder of The Hogeweyk®, located in Amsterdam and widely recognized as the world’s first dementia village. He currently serves as a senior managing advisor with BeAdvice and has become an internationally respected voice in dementia care.

The event will include a short presentation from van Hal at 9:30 a.m., an opportunity to tour a LIVASU model home, and a chance to learn more about LIVASU’s philosophy. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about homes currently available for purchase.

“LIVASU is about helping people continue living meaningful lives while remaining connected to family, community, and purpose,” said Mary Pitsch  Co-Founder of Dementia Innovations – LIVASU. “We are honored to welcome Eloy van Hal to Sheboygan County and share this vision with families, healthcare professionals, and community members who want to better understand what dementia care and support can look like

Unlike traditional memory care settings, LIVASU is a true neighborhood

complete with an ice cream/coffee shop, market, salon, walking paths and

more. Homeowners at LIVASU live in their privately owned home either with

their spouse or alone. On site care and support is available as needed. The village affords those with dementia and their families the ability to live as usual while determining their own level of risk; doing so means they are able to live a full life rather than one defined only by a diagnosis.

The open house welcomes healthcare professionals, individuals and families on the dementia journey, potential homebuyers, and anyone interested in learning more about a culture change in dementia care and support.

RSVPs are appreciated but not required. For more information, contact info@dementiainnovations.org or call (920) 395-9533.
