STC Awarded Creative Communities Grant from Wisconsin Arts Board

Funding will support an educational workshop series beginning in July 2025.

SHEBOYGAN, WI--May 28, 2025--The Sheboygan Theatre Company, the local community theater preparing to embark on its 92nd Season, is excited to announce it has been awarded a Creative Communities Grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board. The grant will fund a comprehensive arts education workshop series launching with a kick-off week in July, followed by monthly workshops throughout the theatre year.

"It is an honor  to receive this recognition and support from the Wisconsin Arts Board," said Executive Director Tricia Roberts. "This grant allows us to reignite our educational mission and provide even more opportunities for our community to engage with the arts. Our workshop series will offer hands-on learning experiences that celebrate both traditional and contemporary theater arts, mindfulness, and self-confidence while building lasting connections within our community."

The Creative Communities grants program encourages arts education, cultural understanding, and community arts development throughout Wisconsin. It provides support for projects that further the Arts Board's goals in three key areas: Arts Education, Folk and Traditional Arts, and Local Arts. Through direct financial support of specific arts projects, the Arts Board sustains the vitality of Wisconsin culturally, educationally, and economically.

STC's grant application focused on creating accessible arts education opportunities for community members of all ages and experience levels. The funding will support a dynamic workshop series beginning with an intensive kick-off week in July featuring multiple classes, followed by one workshop day each month through the remainder of the 92nd Season.

"This grant represents more than just funding—it's an investment in our community's creative future," Roberts added. "We're committed to using these resources to break down barriers to arts participation and ensure that everyone in Sheboygan has the opportunity to explore their creative potential through theater."

The workshop series will cover various aspects of theater arts, from performance techniques to behind-the-scenes crafts. Workshop titles and instructors will be announced soon, with registration details to follow.
