STC Opens Auditions for Legally Blonde the Musical

The entire community is invited to come out and audition for the show.

SHEBOYGAN, WI--March 3, 2025--The Sheboygan Theater Company (STC), the local community theater that has served Sheboygan County for 90 seasons, announced today that the Company will hold in-person auditions for its upcoming production of Legally Blonde the Musical. Zac Stearn will direct. Auditions are Tuesday, March 18, and Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Theatre Business Office/Rec Department Office at 3330 Stahl Rd, Sheboygan, WI.

“We are thrilled to bring Legally Blonde: The Musical to the STC stage. This show is an inspiring and energetic celebration of determination, self-discovery, and breaking stereotypes—wrapped in an incredibly fun and upbeat production,” said STC Executive Director Tricia Roberts. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for performers to showcase their talent, embrace bold characters, and tell a story that resonates with audiences of all ages. We can’t wait to see the enthusiasm and creativity our community brings!”

Legally Blonde the Musical follows the journey of Elle Woods, a fashion-savvy UCLA sorority girl whose life takes an unexpected turn when her boyfriend breaks up with her. Determined to prove she’s more than just a blonde, Elle follows him to Harvard Law, where she struggles to fit in but ultimately defies expectations. Filled with catchy music, energetic dance numbers, and plenty of heart, Legally Blonde the Musical is a celebration of ambition, empowerment, and embracing who you are.

Zac Stearn has worked professionally in theatre for 15 years as a director, actor, educator, and all-around arts enthusiast. Earlier this season, he directed STC’s production of Mary Poppins, following his directorial debut with STC on Into the Woods. He also directed STC’s Studio Players 4th of July Musical Revue. In addition to his work on stage, he recently authored 5 to Places: Memoir of a Theatre Kid, a reflection on his experiences in the world of theatre. His passion for storytelling and dynamic stage productions continues to inspire audiences and performers alike.

“I'm looking forward to seeing talented individuals who can take direction, have a friendly attitude, and are well-prepared," Stearn said. “It's fantastic when people are excited about auditioning rather than intimidated. We're here to support each other, and I encourage everyone to let go of their anxieties and enjoy the process. The talent in this community is incredible, and I'm excited to see how they bring life to these characters."

Actors and actresses 15 and older should prepare 32 measures (approximately one minute) of a musical theater or pop song in the style of the show, with selections from the show welcomed. Callbacks will include singing, readings from the script, and movement exercises. Rehearsals begin March 21st, running weeknights from 6:30-10 pm at Leslie W. Johnson Theatre (Horace Mann Middle School), with performances on May 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, and 17. Participants must be available for all performances, including tech weekend (May 3-4). Reserve your audition slot online via SignUpGenius or by calling 920-459-3773.
