Visitor Services Associate

The Visitor Services Associate serves as the first point of contact for all Garden visitors and therefore plays a critical role in the success of Bookworm Gardens. The Visitor Services Associate has the responsibility for providing positive engagement whenever possible -- processing financial transactions in our admission gate or answering the telephone and email inquiries. The Visitor Services Associate will maintain and present the tools, enthusiasm and information necessary for a positive, safe and memorable visitor experience. The Visitor Services Associate will interact with a broad range of people daily, including garden visitors, special events guests, professional vendors, donors, venue rental clients and more. In addition to making all guests feel welcome and valued; this position is accountable for processing admissions, gift shop transactions, selling and fulfilling memberships, booking event tickets, class registrations, and accepting donations. The Visitor Services Associate is expected to maintain a high level of courtesy, professionalism and friendliness with both visitors and fellow team members. The ideal candidate is a team player who is service-oriented, has a strong attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and takes pride in providing a memorable experience and safe visit for every visitor.

Roles and Responsibilities:
? Create a welcoming and warm experience for all visitors ? Demonstrate a well-rounded understanding of our mission/vision ? Partner with facilities staff and events staff to deliver an exceptional visitor experience ? Provide effective customer service in-person and over the phone ? Ensure visitors and volunteers follow Gardens’ rules and policies ? Ensure that the Gardens, parking lot, and all structures are clean and safe for visitors. ? Perform refunds, cancellations, adjustments of inventory, etc. as needed regarding admission reservations ? Process sales transactions through our POS system (Altru and Square), including admissions, memberships and gift shop purchases ? Monitor and restock items in the gift shop ? Physically move the gift shop cart and any other merchandise that needs to be set outside for the day ? Upsell membership to visitors ? Encourage membership renewals and upgrades to current members and meet daily sales goals ? Reconcile cash/checks and charges with admission/gift shop sales daily ? Perform administrative tasks; ensure visitor data is entered accurately into the database in a consistent and timely manner ? Check and respond to emails and phone calls regarding visitor questions ? Open and close the Garden Admission Booth, close and secure all buildings at the end of the day ? Use creative problem solving when responding to visitor concerns. Resolve customer service issues and/or elevate then to Management when appropriate ? Manage the inventory of and order sanitization supplies as needed ? Talk to large groups and provide information to them as needed ? Come in as needed for scheduled “on call” duties as back-up to Visitor Associates ? Treat all employees and visitors with respect and contribute to a positive work environment ? Be a positive advocate for the Gardens’ community and employee culture
