Sheboygan, WI – As the year draws to a close, the Humane Society of Sheboygan County (HSSC) is calling on the community to come together in support of its year-end fundraising campaign. Operated 100% by donations—not taxpayer funding—HSSC has been a lifeline for animals in need for over 60 years, serving as an adoption center, a shelter for animals in crisis, and a vital resource for the community. The Humane Society of Sheboygan County Launches Year-End Fundraising Campaign
This year has been a remarkable one for HSSC. Executive Director David Diaz reflects on his first full year in the role with immense gratitude: “This year has been filled with countless moments of collaboration and compassion, whether with our board members, dedicated staff, generous donors, tireless volunteers, or families opening their hearts and homes through adoption. I am deeply fortunate to be surrounded by such extraordinary people who share a common goal: making the world better for animals in need.”
HSSC achieved notable milestones in 2024, including serving over 5,700 animals annually with a 98% save rate. The organization’s no-kill mission remains steadfast as they provide emergency surgeries, shelter animals from disaster-stricken areas, and support families and pets impacted by domestic violence or other crises.
“From transporting animals out of disaster-stricken areas to providing emergency surgeries for injured pets, HSSC remains a cornerstone of compassion and care in our community,” said David Diaz. “Whether it’s offering shelter to pets affected by house fires or partnering with first responders to distribute low-cost food and resources to families in need, we are here to provide safety and love.”
However, like many nonprofits, HSSC faces economic uncertainties and is looking ahead with careful planning to ensure sustainability. “In the coming year, we are committed to streamlining our processes, embracing new technologies, and making every dollar count so that we can continue to rise to the challenges before us,” David Diaz added.
The Humane Society is asking for end-of-year contributions to ensure the lifesaving work can continue. Every gift—big or small—makes a difference and helps HSSC provide food, medical care, and shelter to animals in need.
