Family Therapy Clinic Opens in Plymouth

Donna Schelfhout brings affordable mental health care to the community.

Plymouth, WI -- October 15, 2025 -- Calming Waters Family Therapy, a provider of affordable, solution-focused therapy modalities designed to restore mental health, has opened a new clinic in Plymouth. The clinic is located at 623 E Mill St, Suite 3, Plymouth, WI, and is open by appointment.

“Calming Waters Family Therapy serves individuals and couples of all ages who are experiencing a disruption in their mental health and want to get help,” said Donna Schelfhout, Chief Mental Health Therapist at Calming Waters Family Therapy. “We provide affordable, solution-focused therapy modalities designed to restore mental health in the short term, so our clients can return to enjoying their lives or create better ones for themselves.”

Schelfhout is a mental health therapist with 23 years of experience coaching married couples, and 30 years working with teens, and helping others who have experienced a mental health disruption and seek to overcome past events and find strength for a better future. She has over 30 years of experience in church ministry and has been happily married for 32 years. She is trained in a wide variety of solution-focused therapies, including communication-based therapy and mindfulness work. 

Before founding Calming Waters Family Therapy, she served as a mental health therapist for the Behavioral Health Clinic and Access Community Therapies in Sheboygan. Before that, she was a therapist at Shorehaven Behavioral Health in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.

Calming Waters serves a very diverse client base, with clients ranging in age from four to 70. What ties them all together, according to Schelfhout, is that they have all experienced a disruption of their mental health, and they all want help. 

The clinic works with individuals and couples who are suffering from anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, PTSD, and combinations of these diagnoses.
