Mark Lorier becomes the college’s seventh faculty member recognized in eight years.Lakeshore College Instructor Receives National Recognition
CLEVELAND, WI – The American Association of Community Colleges has recognized Mark Lorier, computer numerically controlled machine tooling instructor at Lakeshore College, among its 2025 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty. Lorier is the college’s seventh faculty member to be recognized since the program began in 2018.
The award, named in honor of former AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell, was established to recognize individuals from around the country making a difference in and outside the college classroom.
Lorier joined Lakeshore in 2012. He is a Wisconsin Technical College System graduate and holds multiple national certifications in his field. He established Lakeshore’s Machining Club and serves on the college’s Curriculum and Assessment, Competency-Based Education, and Co-Curricular Activities committees. Lorier will be recognized in a ceremony taking place April 16 in Nashville.
“As a quiet leader, Mark has a significant impact on our students, faculty, and college. Manufacturing is the largest industry sector in our district and the programs he teaches are critical to our local employers who seek our graduates,” said Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen.
“Mark has also been instrumental to the implementation of Rocket Academy, the first advanced manufacturing technology charter school in Wisconsin, and his work with Registered Apprenticeship and Youth Apprenticeship programs has been key to their success,” added Carlsen.
Previously recognized Lakeshore faculty and their areas of expertise include Kelly Konrath, math; Julie Konik, psychology; Sarah Bornemann, information technology web and software development; Jeremy Pagel, sociology; Paul Benfield, information technology; and David Saunders, welding.
"Faculty from around the country get nominated for this prestigious recognition. Having Lakeshore individuals recognized year after year is not only an honor but evidence of their exceptional talent and dedication to our students," added Carlsen.
