STC Brings Steel Magnolias to the Theatre Stage

STC Brings Steel Magnolias to the Theatre Stage

Laughter, tears, and timeless friendship make this a must-see show.

SHEBOYGAN, WI--November 13, 2025--The Sheboygan Theatre Company, the local community theater celebrating its 92nd Season, will present Steel Magnolias, a heartwarming story of friendship, love, and resilience, performing December 5–13, 2025, at the Leslie W. Johnson Theatre inside Horace Mann Middle School, 2820 Union Ave., Sheboygan. The show is directed by New York-based Lauren Shields.

“Our talented cast and crew, led by a wonderful director, are shaping a production filled with warmth, humor, and heart,” said Tricia Roberts, Executive Director of Sheboygan Theatre Company. “This story is a celebration of community built around women supporting women. We can’t wait for audiences to experience it together.”

In Truvy’s small-town Louisiana salon, friendship is the style that never fades. Through quick wit, shared tears, and plenty of teasing-both hair and heart-Steel Magnolias proves that resilience shines brightest among friends.

Shields is a Director, Intimacy Coordinator, and Coach with extensive experience directing plays and musicals across regional theatres, Off-Broadway, festivals, and academic institutions. Her credits include Butterflies Are Free, Top Girls, Assassins, and Somerton Man: A True Crime Musical. She holds a Musical Theatre degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an MFA in Directing from The Actors Studio Drama School at PACE University.

“When I first saw the opportunity to direct Steel Magnolias in Sheboygan, I knew I had to apply,” said Shields. “The theatre’s deep community spirit and dedication to creating exceptional work made it an easy yes. This story invites audiences to reflect on how individuality can blossom into something greater: a strong, loving, and interconnected community. It celebrates femininity as a source of strength-not softness-showing that women can do anything, be anything, and often serve as the foundation that holds everything together.”

The production features a cast of six women from the local community. Steel Magnolias promises an unforgettable evening of laughter, tears, and heartfelt storytelling.
