The Play That Goes Wrong Brings Controlled Chaos and Big Laughs to the STC Stage A hilarious disaster where everything goes wrong, but the show must go on. SHEBOYGAN, WI--January 23, 2026--The Sheboygan Theatre Company, the local community theater celebrating its 92nd Season, will present The Play That Goes Wrong, a side-splitting farce packed with pratfalls, missed cues, and unstoppable laughter. Performances run February 13-21, 2026, at the Leslie W. Johnson Theatre inside Horace Mann Middle School, 2820 Union Ave., Sheboygan. “This production is pure joy, a love letter to every community theatre that’s ever had something go hilariously wrong on opening night,” said Tricia Roberts, Executive Director of Sheboygan Theatre Company. “Audiences can expect nonstop laughter and the kind of contagious energy that reminds us why we love live performance.” Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, The Play That Goes Wrong follows the accident-prone Cornley Drama Society as they attempt to stage a murder mystery. Sets collapse, props go missing, and actors soldier on as chaos reigns. Against all odds, the troupe proves that even when everything falls apart, the magic of live theatre endures. At the helm is Director Ryan Schabach, whose extensive career blends acting, directing, playwriting, and choreography across stages nationwide. Most recently, Ryan directed The Foreigner and The Trip to Bountiful at Unity Theatre in Brenham, TX, and appeared in Wisconsin this past summer in Three Viewings at Third Avenue PlayWorks and in repertory at Door Shakespeare in Great Expectations and Twelfth Night. A Wisconsin native, Schabach studied Psychology and Philosophy at UW Oshkosh and holds an MFA in Classical Performance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he later served as an Emerging Artist with the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. “This play captures everything I love about theatre, the bravery, the chaos, and the teamwork,” said Schabach. “It’s a masterclass in timing and trust, and our Sheboygan cast is ready to deliver a night of comedy audiences will never forget.” Featuring a talented cast of local performers bringing expert comic timing and fearless energy to the stage, The Play That Goes Wrong promises an evening of laughter so big it might just bring the house down…literally.
